Frequently Asked Questions About Vaginal Detoxing
Do detox pearls cause Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)?
The recent propaganda claiming that our Herbal Womb Detox Pearls can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is purely a unfounded and baseless attack on another holistic product without merit. The reality is that TSS was first recognized in the US during the early 1980s. There are two forms of TSS which have been related to menstruation and nonmenstrual causes. The US Food and Drug administration states, “Data show that toxic shock syndrome (TSS), a rare but serious and sometimes fatal disease, is associated with the use of menstrual tampons.” According to the Oxford Dictionary, a tampon is a plug of soft material inserted into the vagina to absorb menstrual blood. Our detox is neither a plug nor designed to absorb menstrual material. In fact we strictly advise clients not to use the detox while they are on their monthly cycle. Additionally, we instruct them to start using our detox several days (min of 3) after their cycle ends to ensure that the detox will not be used during menstruation.
It is also key to note that although TSS is associated with menstruation and tampon usage, roughly half of the current TSS incidences are related to nonmenstrual sources that originate from surgery recovery, burns, open wounds, and the use of prosthetic devices. A journal article published in the Oxford Journal of Clinical Infectious Disease reported barriers of contraceptives, vaginal and cesarean delivery, and respiratory tract infections as additional sources of nonmenstrual TSS. Vaginal detox pearls are not involved, used, or related to any of those menstrual or non-menstrual sources that can actually cause TSS.

How many detox pearls should I use?
The number of detox pearls varies depending on your where you are and what category you fall into.
For individuals that simple want to test the detox out you should get 3 pearls. For individuals that want to incorporate the detox pearls into their monthly detox routine we recommend getting the 4 month supply to start.
For clients that experience mild imbalances (abnormal discharge, BV, yeast overgrowth, irregular menstruation, or menstrual pain) we recommend purchasing our Pangaea Pack A.
For clients that experience moderate imbalances (endometriosis) we recommend purchasing our Pangaea Pack B.
For clients that experience severe imbalances (cysts or fibroids) we recommend purchasing our Pangaea Pack C. Granted detoxing is an on going process because we are constantly bombarded by toxins originating from various sources on a daily basis.
When is the best time of day for me to insert the pearls?
In order to achieve the best results, it is always recommended to work with your body’s internal cycles. Naturally, while you are resting at night your body is hard at work trying to cleanse and rebuild. Inserting the detox pearls in the evening or right before you go to bed is recommened. This will allow your body the opportunity to focus more on detoxing. In comparison, if your insert the detox in the morning before your start your busy day, your body is not focused on detoxing or restoring. In the morning/day time your body is focused on assimilating and breaking down nutrients . Overall, it is best to start your detox in the evening/night because it is the time when your body is most focused on rebuilding, renewing, and healing.
Do I have to use a pantyliner?
We would suggest that clients use pantyliners during the days after they remove the detox pearl in order to catch any discharge that may come out. However, some clients do not use pantyliners. Overall the use of pantyliners depends on your personal preference.
What does my discharge tell me?
The main visual difference in discharge are blood clots, whole tissue (you can see the ridges), and mucus (dead bacteria, tissue cells, and yeast). The mucus like soft discharge is similar to that when you cough up mucus from a cold. In the phlegm (mucus) that you cough up there is a combination of dead cells, bacteria, and cold/flu viruses). Without proper analysis you wouldn’t be able to tell specifically what was in the phlegm the most, but you would know that it contained a combination of items that your body was getting rid of. This is the case as well for the discharge that comes out. It is also important to note that clients that have various imbalances (ranging from moderate to intense) do experience similar discharges (wet/dry mucus).
Can I use the detox pearls while on birth control?
Clients that are using various forms of birth control are free to use our detox pearls. The detox pearl is not designed to interfere with the effectiveness of any birth control (pill, patch, Depo, IUD, etc)
Can I have sex while the detox pearls are inserted?
No, engaging in any form of sexual activity (intercourse) while having the detox pearl insert can cause damage. The tissues of the vaginal canal are delicate and susceptible to damage if you are consistently rubbing it against the detox. If you engage in intercourse the penis may accidentally rub against the detox pushing it into an area where it should not be, or cause severe irritation. We recommend waiting to have intercourse after removing the detox (preferably waiting one day after removal).
Can I use the detox pearls if I live a moderate to high activity lifestyle?
Absolutely! Clients are actually encouraged to engage in physical exercise during the detoxification process in order to increase their detox experience. Please read our blog about 7 tips to increase your detox experience.
Can I use the detox pearls if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No! Due to the herbs that we use in our detox product we strictly prohibit usage for clients that are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can I consume alcoholic and smoking while using the detox?
We highly recommend that you abstain from consuming products that further add toxins to your body while your are actively detoxing. This is a general rule, whether you are using our detox or another form of detox, that drinking liquor and smoking (tobacco or Marijuana) is not best. The idea of a detox is to help your body remove toxins. It is counterproductive to ingest toxins through drinking or smoking while your are trying to detox.
Do the detox pearls need to be soaked before insertion?
No, the detox pearls are designed to glide into your vagina without issues. If you do need/want additional lubrication, we recommend lightly coating the detox in coconut oil.
